The Huntingdon Community Kitchen Committee is pleased to announce that the new community kitchen will now be known as La Fourchette d’Huntingdon, following a contest open to the public to find a unifying name for this new community space.

The winning name was proposed by Ms. Erin Duheme, whose suggestion stood out for its simplicity, its unifying spirit, and its direct connection to the project’s mission. In recognition of her contribution, Ms. Duheme received a $100 gift certificate to the Huntingdon Farmers’ Market.

La Fourchette d’Huntingdon is intended to be much more than just a kitchen. This new space will foster connections, the sharing of culinary skills, community activities, food security, and the development of promising projects for the entire community.

“We sincerely thank everyone who participated in the contest. The many proposals we received demonstrate the public’s interest in this unifying project, which will contribute to the vitality of our community,” said the Community Kitchen Committee.

The creation of this community kitchen has been made possible thanks to the commitment of several partners, including the City of Huntingdon, the Haut-Saint-Laurent MRC, the ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation du Québec (MAMH), as well as the various organizations and collaborators who are helping to make this project a true gathering place that benefits the community.

More than just a kitchen space, La Fourchette d’Huntingdon will become a place for meeting, mutual support, and sharing, where residents can cook together, learn, pass on their skills, and forge lasting bonds.
